Whether it’s Kidz Bop, Disney Sing-A-Long, or Baby Einstein, sometimes our drive time soundtrack is hijacked by the kids. When was the last time you downloaded something new that you enjoy? Is your iPod/iPhone full of the same old songs you’ve heard a hundred times?
While it’s great to expose our little ones to the classics, finding opportunities to enjoy what you love with them can be invaluable. Music can bring so much to our lives – it spurs on powerful emotions that can motivate you, inspire you, and make you feel happy!
- Don’t be afraid to ask friends about new music they’ve discovered, listen to samples on iTunes, or try a new Pandora station
- Play your favorite music with the kids – they might just start singing along!
- Find your “pick-me up songs” and keep them on hand – which songs make you feel happy and optimistic? Some suggestions: “Say Hey (I Love You)” by Michael Franti & Spearhead; “Drive by” by Train, “Lets Get it Started” by the Black Eyed Peas; “Life Is A Highway” by Tom Cochrane.
The power of an uplifting song can change your outlook, especially in the morning or after a long day. Give that musical-pick-me-up a try and you might be surprised!
