A WMB Year of Reflection: Two out of three aint bad…

In the show, Sex and the City, the main character, Carrie Bradshaw once described her world as:

“In New York, your always looking for a job, a boyfriend, or an apartment.”

That line always stuck with me because it puts things in perspective: really, two out of three ain’t bad! And for that matter, it’s a true affirmation that it’s nearly impossible to have all main parts of your life in a perfect balance all the time.

As a busy working mom, we’re always looking to stay on top of work and finances, our health, and our relationships. It’s very rare to have everything perfectly aligned, so if something is out of balance for a while, its okay. No one is perfect.

The only major mistake one can make is to let something fall off-balance for an extended period of time. Speaking from personal experience, this got the best of your WMB bogger this year. So for example, de-prioritizing healthy eating and fitness can bring you down a horrible rabbit hole that triggers other health problems…

So don’t be too hard on yourself if you are temporarilly overloaded with a work project, fighting off a cold, or getting attitude from your teenager. Just focus on fixing what’s out of whack and move on. And don’t worry – another challenge will come to fruition – and doesn’t that make life exciting 🙂

Happy New Year Working Moms!
